How to create and activate discount codes for your Yaga shop to boost sales or reward returning customers, and how a discount code works alongside an accepted offer.
How to create a discount code
- Tap My Yaga in the bottom navigation bar and choose My shop.
- Select the Discount codes tab.
- Tap Create a new discount code.
- Enter a name for the code and choose whether you want it to give a discount in % or a sum in R.
- Tap Save the discount code and make sure the Status is activated (button switched to the right). Once you no longer want it to be active, deactivate the code status.
Using a discount code with an offer
A discount code and an accepted offer are two separate things, and both can apply to the same purchase.
When you accept a Buyer's offer, the item price updates to the offer amount. The Buyer can still enter an active discount code at checkout, which then comes off the offer price. Both reductions apply, so your earnings can be lower than the offer you accepted.
Example: Your item is listed at R250 with an active R100 discount code. You accept an offer of R175. If the Buyer enters the code at checkout, R100 comes off the R175 and the item sells for R75.
Important: If you want to negotiate offers without a discount also applying, deactivate the discount code first. Open the Discount codes tab and switch the code's Status to deactivated.
Good to know
- Discount codes are case sensitive.
- Discount codes only apply to the item price, not to the delivery.
- Discounts are not applied to products automatically. The Buyer needs to be aware of the discount code and enter it manually when making a purchase to get the discount.
- An accepted offer and a discount code can both apply to the same purchase. If your code is active, a Buyer can use it on top of an offer you accepted, which lowers your earnings.
