If you can't log in to your Yaga account, this guide helps you find the cause — testing app versus website, checking your Facebook or Google login, registering your email as a Google Account, and logging in from abroad.
There could be several reasons why you can't log back into your Yaga account. The steps below help you understand what's causing the problem and get you logged in.
In this article:
- Test whether the app or website is the problem
- Check your Facebook or Google login
- Register your email as a Google Account
- Trying to log in from abroad
- What to include when contacting support
Step 1 — Test whether the app or website is the problem
If you're struggling to log in via the app, try logging in via the website (and vice versa). If the problem persists, move to Step 2. If you were able to log in via the other medium, check the relevant point below:
- App — if you can't log in via the app but can log in via the Yaga website, this is usually due to an outdated app. Open your App Store or Play Store, search for Yaga, tap the Yaga app, and if there is an Update button, tap it. If this doesn't solve the problem, contact Yaga support — more details at the end of this article.
- Website — if you can't log in via the Yaga website but can log in via the app, this is usually due to a less optimised browser or an out-of-date browser version. Yaga is best optimised for the Google Chrome browser. If this doesn't solve the problem, contact Yaga support — more details at the end of this article.
Step 2 — Check your Facebook or Google login
Are you trying to log in using your Google account or your Facebook account?
- One possible reason is that you accidentally didn't allow Facebook to share your email with Yaga. Without your email, Yaga cannot identify you. To fix this, go to your Facebook Settings, choose Apps and websites from the left, and remove Yaga. Now start logging into Yaga with Facebook again, and when the consent screen appears, tap Edit this. Make sure that Email address is activated so Facebook shares it with Yaga and Yaga can identify you.
- Another possible reason is that you have changed your email in Facebook.
- If the email address connected to your Yaga account ends with @gmail.com, try using the Log in with Google Account option.
- If your email address ends with something other than @gmail.com (for example, @outlook.com, @mail.com, @yahoo.com, @hotmail.com, or @icloud.com) and is not connected to your Facebook account, then register your email address as a Google Account. You can then choose the Log in with Google Account option to get logged in.
How to register your email as a Google Account
- Open www.google.com and in the top right corner click either Sign in, or your picture (if you're logged in with another account) and then Add another account.
- Click Create account.
- Click For myself.
- Click Use my current email address instead.
- Register your email as a Google account.
- Use the newly created email when logging into Yaga with the Google account option.
Trying to log in from abroad?
For security reasons, the Yaga app works and is available only in South Africa. If you are travelling and unable to log in, try again once you are back in SA.
