Buying technology safely on Yaga means watching for Seller red flags, testing the device before completing the order, and understanding what happens once you tap "Item received".
Yaga is a platform where you can shop safely when the correct procedure is followed, but it's always good to be extra cautious when buying electronics.
Red flags when buying electronics
Watch out for these warning signs:
- The Seller asks for your WhatsApp details.
- The Seller tries to direct the order outside the safety of Yaga.
- The Seller shares their banking details with you.
- The Seller tries to pressure you into tapping Item received before you've received the item.
- The Seller has many different electronic items in their store.
- Items have been tagged with the wrong brand (for example, Forever New).
If one of these red flags occurs, we recommend you contact the Yaga support team by submitting a request below.
Before you tap "Item received"
For electronics, we strongly recommend doing the following before you complete the order in Yaga:
- Power the device on and test all functions you care about (for example, camera, charging, battery, speakers, screen, ports, buttons).
- Confirm the device is not locked to any carrier or to a previous owner's account (for example, iCloud or Google account).
⚠️ Important: Once you tap Item received, the funds are released to the Seller and the order is finalised. After this point, our return policy no longer applies — even if the device develops a problem afterwards. If anything is off, do not tap Item received. You have 48 hours from the collection time to contact the Seller via Yaga chat and reach out to Yaga Support if needed. If the item differs from what was advertised or has hidden flaws, you have the right to return it. In that case, take images and videos of the flaws and share your findings with the Seller via Yaga messages, or with Yaga support by submitting a request below.
How to report a suspicious item or user
Use the Report button for any prohibited items or suspicious users on the platform. Once you submit a report, Yaga will review the user or listing and take the necessary next steps. Review our guide on how to Report.
PS! It's highly important to keep all your conversations and orders inside Yaga and follow the correct procedure — this is the only way Yaga can keep your money safe.
