How to get started selling on Yaga, from opening your shop to listing your first item and what happens after a sale.
We're thrilled that you've decided to join Yaga and start selling. This article covers the important information that helps you get started and understand how the selling process works.
Open your Yaga shop
First things first, you need a Yaga shop to start selling. To open your shop:
- Tap the Sign up / Login button.
- Choose your preferred log in method.
- Fill in the details about your account and shop.
After you've done that, you should see your username at the top of My Yaga on the bottom navigation bar. This confirms that you've successfully created your Yaga account.
Before you list an item
Once you've created your Yaga shop, the next step is to add items to your shop. This means creating a listing that advertises the item on our site to all potential Buyers. Review our Prohibited items list article to see which items are prohibited on our platform.
Note: the item in real life must match its description, information, and pictures in your listing. If the Buyer receives an item that significantly differs from the photo or description, or has hidden flaws, they have the right to return it. Review our Return policy for more details.
How to list an item
- Tap the Add item button to list items to your shop. This button can be found in three places:
- Tap Add image and choose the picture you'd like to post. Up to 6 photos can be added.
- Pictures must show the item and its condition as vividly and truly as possible.
- When taking a picture, focus on good natural lighting to show the item's true colours and texture, and choose a plain, simple background. Be cautious about using filters, since they can distort your item's real look. We recommend reading our blog post about how to make a perfect listing.
- People like to see how the item looks in real life — they know what to expect and it builds trust, so the Buyer is more likely to make a purchase. If possible, avoid posting pictures found on the internet.
- Add the description.
- Specify the item's condition and make sure to bring out any defects, flaws, or signs of usage.
- Use relevant keywords and characteristics — when Buyers type a keyword into our search engine, your listings can then be seen and easily found.
- Choose the category. For example, if you have an item categorised as "Kids", a Buyer opens our "Kids" category or enters the keyword into our search engine, and your listing can be easily found there — giving your item a greater chance to be found by potential Buyers.
- Choose the correct Brand tag (optional field). Having a brand tagged is another way to increase your chances of being found by the right potential Buyer. For example, if your item is tagged "Zara", a Buyer searching items under the "Zara" category or typing the brand into our search engine will see all items with a "Zara" brand tag, including yours. If you can't find the brand you want in our list, leave this field empty or choose "Other" and write the correct brand name in the description in Step 3.
- Choose the quantity. For example, if you're selling sneakers: A) 2 sneakers = 1 pair, which means you choose "1" as your quantity because you're selling only one pair. B) If you're selling more than one pair of the same sneakers separately, your quantity should equal the number of pairs you'd like to sell.
- Choose a delivery method. You can enable one or multiple preferred delivery options. Note: when you enable "Bundling", the Buyer can purchase multiple items from your shop (all wished items must have the option enabled by you) while only paying once for the delivery. It activates from their second purchase, and the Buyer has one hour from the first purchase to complete any additional purchases. Review our guide on How bundling works for more details, and our guide on How delivery works.
- Choose the price. The item you're selling should be considerably lower in price than when it was first purchased, to create value for the Buyer. Feel free to look around the platform to get ideas from other Sellers selling items similar to yours.
- Tap List item.
Now, if you go to your shop page (bottom navigation bar, My Yaga, My shop), you should see all your listed items. You could also read our blog post about how to reach your first sales on Yaga.
What happens when someone purchases my item?
You'll receive a confirmation via email and a notification in Yaga of your order. Review our guide on How to process an order for more details.
